Right-sized
Adults typically stand under two feet tall at the shoulder and weigh around 60 to 80 pounds, so they're manageable for kids and adults alike.
NIGERIAN DWARF GOAT KIDS
Nigerian Dwarf goats are one of the best breeds for families and small homesteads. They're gentle, curious, easy to handle, and they fit on a lot less land than most livestock. We raise them on our farm in Leesville and love matching kids with good homes.
ABOUT THE BREED
Nigerian Dwarfs are a miniature dairy breed. They were bred for milk, but most people fall for them because of their temperament.
Adults typically stand under two feet tall at the shoulder and weigh around 60 to 80 pounds, so they're manageable for kids and adults alike.
Handled from a young age, they're affectionate and people-oriented. They follow you around, come when called, and love attention.
Does are known for milk that's high in butterfat, which makes it a favorite for cheese, soap, and homestead kitchens.
BEFORE YOU BRING ONE HOME
We want every kid to end up somewhere it will thrive, so we'll always tell you what goat ownership really takes:
Goats are herd animals and get lonely and stressed on their own. Plan on at least two. A pair of kids is the easiest way to start.
Goats are clever escape artists. Sturdy woven-wire fencing about four feet tall keeps them home and keeps predators out.
They need a dry, draft-free shelter to get out of rain and wind. It doesn't need to be fancy.
Plan for fresh water, hay, minerals, hoof trims, and a relationship with a livestock veterinarian.
HOW IT WORKS
Tell us what you're looking for: a pair of pets, a future milker, or a starter herd.
We'll share what's available or coming soon, along with each kid's age and parents, and set up a time for you to visit.
Once kids are weaned and ready, you pick them up at the farm. We're always a text away with questions after they go home.
Ask us what's available now and what's on the way. We'll be honest about timing and fit.
